The product of 7 and a number, increased by 3, is equal to twice the number, subtracted from 39.

Let the number be X. Then we find
7X + 3 = 39 - 2X

Now we collect the terms and find
9X = 36

Finally we divide by 9
X = 4

So our answer is 4
