first write down your equation. 3(x+2)=27. distribute the 3. 3x+6=27. move the 6 to the other side of the equal with the opposite sign. 3x=27-6. combine like constants. 3x=21. divide by three to get your answer for x. 3x/3=21/3. your answer is x=7
