width = x

length = 3 + x

perimeter = x + x + ( 3 + x ) + (3+x)

18 = x + x + ( 3 + x ) + (3+x)

x + x + ( 3 + x ) + (3+x) = 18

6 + 4x = 18

4x = 12

x = 3
