A prokaryotic cell lack a nucleus. Therefore the DNA are located in an unbound region called the nucleoid. They are different from eukaryotic cells because they do not have membrane-bound organelles. (No mitochondria, golgi, or the endoplasmic reticulum) Examples of a prokaryotic cells are bacteria and archaea.
