In the novel ā€œLord of the Fliesā€ by William Golding as many symbols to show the hidden meaning of situations or objects. In chapter 2 the boys on the island decide to make a signal fire which later goes out of control. The statement ā€œWon’t we look funny if the whole island burns up?ā€ (Golding 45) which foreshadows the end of the story. The fire represents the civilization in the boy’s society because they are all still trying to find a way to get home. The uncontrollable fire would also represent the absolute disorganization of the society the boys created on the island. Ā
